1424769 2016-08-22 06:55:00 Seriously, we bought this sophisticated printer - Canon Pro 10 for our SeniorNet (oldies tutoring other oldies how to use computer and wide variety of software) We are the Photoshop Elements group, been going now for five years plus. Our printer gobbles ink like it has gone out of fashion !! It has ten (ten) cartridges and every three or four prints it tells us that it is low on one cartridge or another. I know that the manufacturers give it the very best spin, but how is this ? Misty (368)
1424770 2016-08-22 08:26:00 I was just reading a review of this printer in this link below, just copy and paste it into internet Explorer or Chrome etc.

It seems the ink cartridges are only 14ml so relatively small

It also seems that the Ink levels are only and indicator and as they say in the review:
After only a few prints there was a drastic drop in the levels.
Ink usage seemed reasonable, as long as you use the initial low ink warnings as no more than a reminder to have some spare ink ready.

So maybe you dont need to change the inks so soon

1424771 2016-08-22 10:09:00 I've totally given up on colour inkjets. For quality photo prints you can use the machines that many stores have and get better results, for quick prints at home a laser printer is just better all round IMHO.
Of course I store my digital photo's and don't print them as a rule.

1424772 2016-08-23 00:25:00 photo quality inkjet printers often have very small, very expensive ink carts. And more of them than usual
If you require that level of quality photo print, that seems to the price of quality .

If you dont require photo quality glossy prints, there are other options (different printers)
Get a more generic inkjet , look for one with big inkcarts & less of them. It will be much slower for photo prints, but cheaper .
If you are willing to really forgo quality color, then aftermarket inkcarts are dirt cheap for more generic printers

Also, canon printers seem to be the worst for wasting ink on startup, automatic 'cleaning' cycle . I dont think I'd buy another canon

1424773 2016-08-23 02:59:00 It's why it pays to check how many pages per cartridge a particular model does before buying - and how much the cartridges are.

Applies to laser printers as well.
A few are good in this way, most are crap.
