1424399 2016-08-13 05:04:00 Two quick questions for those who have the update.

On the update status page it now says in Red

Your insider preview build settings need attention. Go to Windows Insider Program to fix this issue.

I am not and never have been a part of the insider program. I don't even have an online MS account so why is this message now appearing?

Secondly I run Nod 32 AV and yet after the update Windows wants me to turn on Windows Defender, it didn't ask before so why now and should I turn it on?

Thanks.

SWMBO won't let me on her computer to check if hers is showing the same, will have to check in the week.

1424400 2016-08-13 05:30:00 That is interesting. I checked the Update Status and there was no red message about the insider preview. I clicked on the Windows Insider Program on the left hand side of the Status page and had a look at what it had to say. Lo and behold, when I went back into the Status page the red message you described had in the meantime appeared ??????????? Terry Porritt (14)
1424401 2016-08-13 05:31:00 The Anniversary version is Version 1607,are you sure you have not downloaded version 14901 which is one of the insider builds Lawrence (2987)
1424402 2016-08-13 06:31:00 Nope I have the correct build as Terry said it's weird gary67 (56)
1424403 2016-08-13 06:47:00 I have more or less resolved the conundrum.
Clicking on the Insider Program link on the Status page causes an entry to be made in the registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfhost\UI\Strings

If you delete the text "Your insider preview build needs attention. Go to Windows Insider Program to fix this issue" from the key, the message in red on the Status page disappears. (after reboot)

Maybe the whole key 'Strings' can be deleted, I'll have a play with it :)

1424404 2016-08-13 06:53:00 I deleted all references to insider program in that string with no problems apparent. Terry Porritt (14)
