1424178 2016-08-07 05:52:00 Can anyone throw any light on this one?

Yes, it’s the deceased mates widow again, the one who got hit by the zepto Ransomware.

Anyway, whilst I was dealing with her Laptop, she thought she might use the mates old XP computer, which had probably only been turned on two or three times in the last two or three years.

Well the Computer itself seems to be working fine, except for when you try and hook onto Google you can’t get past this message!

Yeah, Firefox claiming Google doesn’t have their home page configured correctly.

Personally, I don’t believe it, but I’ve never seen such a message before.

Surely it hasn’t contracted some sort of Malware whilst turned off?

Your input will be appreciated.

:thanks

1424179 2016-08-07 06:08:00 Check the date.

It may also be that XP doesn't support the encryption algorithm used (SSLv3 has been dropped, as it's now considered insecure, in favour of TLS as a minimum - XP only got support for that fairly late in life - maybe SP3?). Maybe you could find a legit update for it somewhere.

Might be better to boot a live usb of something more modern (as a temporary solution).

1424180 2016-08-07 07:03:00 Update firefox it's probably out of date. Altho you may not get / or be able to install the latest version

Some info about FF and XP here (support.mozilla.org). It may also depend on what SP is on it now

Check the Date, well I would have never thought of that, but now the lady concerned assures me it is 6:56am on 6th June 2006.

If only.

I’ll go and change the battery and set the time and see what happens.

1424182 2016-08-07 23:41:00 Fixed, thank you Fred.

I haven’t replaced the battery yet, but she corrected the time and date herself and I’m told it is working good as gold again. :)
