1422237 2016-06-22 05:48:00 Just changed from ADSL2+ to VDSL ultra fast and am very happy with the results so far.

Below is latest speed test result. Tested on IPad via wi-fi. Am getting 39.70 Mbps d/load and 11 up on desktop PC. Via Ethernet.
I used to get 13 down and 0.879 up previously.

Gee you're so modern.
New sky thingy...Ipad, and now VDSL.

Here in my house we still have ADSL, old Sky thingy and no tablets.
And I was a tech once.....lol....

Even worse, shock, horror - I swapped GPUs with son. he thought I'd gone mad.

1422241 2016-06-22 08:52:00 Moi? Modern, not really, just trying to keep up with things, iPad, saved for long time to buy it, VDSL not much difference in price to what I was on before, Son at home :( due to unfortunate circumstances, me on single pension. You my friend are a Tech and will always be. Me, I'm just a wannabe who likes to help older people in their technology confusion! LOL!

I disagree. To be a tech you have to be A)Working as one - whether that involves charging or not B)working with the new tech
I don't anymore, well apart from a bit of free stuff, and not much of that with anything new

To be a good tech too, you have to keep up with the new stuff, whether that is the O/s, the hardware or whatever.
I haven't. Therefore I am obsolete.

And not a tech anymore.

1422244 2016-06-22 21:40:00 Yeah VDSL is great, worth the $10 extra they charge. I almost cancelled my fibre I'd signed up for because my VDSL worked so well.
I was getting close to 50/10 so it was faster than the cheap fibre plans. In the end though the 100/20 fibre plan for the same price won me over. I sometimes call myself a tech :) but not a computer one.

1422245 2016-06-22 22:18:00 Very nice! Faster speeds than I've been getting on VDSL2. Still, when I moved in to my current place ~5 years ago we were getting around 1mbps, then got cabinetized and then got VDSL2, so I'm not complaining.

New place I move in to this weekend has UFB though, can't wait!! :D

1422246 2016-06-22 23:20:00 I know some people have had some horrible experiences with broadband but mine has always trended to improving since I bought my House in 1999 - well except for the first couple of years.

Originally at 3.5Kms from the exchange I got around 3-3.5 Mbps but I was one of only 3 houses on my block next to some vacant sections and as those sections filled up my speed kept dropping until it bottomed out around 2Mbps

Next came a new cabinet - 8Mbps
Then a new Modem - 16Mbps (realised my old modem router was limiting me to ADSL speeds)
Then VDSL - 30-35 Mbps
Then they changed the VDSL profile - 40-50Mbps
Then Fibre - 100 Mbps

My VDSL kept getting faster for some reason - reaching over 50 Mbps just before switching to fibre - my theory is people moving to fibre was improving the copper for those still on it which makes sense.
