1421386 2016-06-03 00:08:00 I got this strange spam/scam message on my mobile phone last night. I can't understand how or who my name and number was obtained. It read:

Hi Greg. Veronica here, im gonna try and explain to you how to download whatsapp... just go to google, type in 'Free whatsapp download' and from there on it should take you through the steps. Let me know!

This is so weird mostly because it appeared to come from my g'f's number while she is overseas. Can anyone tell me anything about this?

1421387 2016-06-03 00:46:00 Possibly your g/f has the app installed and it sends messages to all her contacts. When one signs up for a lot of apps, it asks if it can send mails on one's behalf. Whenu (9358)
1421388 2016-06-03 01:10:00 Hmm. This a brand new phone she bought just a few days ago in Joburg (cos her usual one died), so she doesn't have anything installed to the best of my knowledge; she wouldn't know how - she's not blonde by hair colour but I'll say no more. Greg (193)
1421389 2016-06-03 01:41:00 It is just another PITA message app. Zippity (58)

A brand new ph could have heaps of crapware pre-installed on it. My samsung does, crapware that cant be removed (not easily) ...
You have to be a bit picky with ph choice if you want a clean Android .

not the best if its an app you didnt want or use.

1421391 2016-06-03 08:36:00 Hmm. I feel like a real tit. Turns out the message was from g/f's niece. No wonder it came from her number. Greg (193)

But so true Dave :) I was going to ask if it was a left or a right one, but Zippity beat me to it.
