The other issue they have is the age of their nukes themselves, and with specialists retiring they have issue with new techs not
having the onhand experience needed .
Many of the nukes are now so old (and complex) that some have said they really dont know
how many of them will still work when needed . They have been upgrading some of the delivery systems but not the actual nuke.
And because of the test ban treaty, they cant test any of them.

I see NZ Police are having another crack at upgrading their computer system , remember the disaster last time.
Hands up all those who think it will be another disaster (thats financial disaster for the taxpayer) , starting to look that way allready.

I think that was the issue (according to that online article)
The cost of keeping them running was more than the cost of replacing them all . Perhaps they are broke & need constant repairs ?

For sure, it's going to be a another disaster, or 200 ~ 300 % out of budget! We seem to be extremely bad at figures, or at least our Government.
