| 1421945 | 2016-06-24 21:05:00 | Imagine a world with Trump in power in the US, and Boris the Boofhead as PM of England and Wales after Scotland leaves the former "UK" to stay with Europe. Not an unlikely scenario apparently. Everyone will feel so safe in their little beds with those fingers on the nuclear triggers. Such wise men... | John H (8) | ||
| 1421946 | 2016-06-24 21:57:00 | I believe that many who voted to Leave the EU did so for the same reasons as I. Primarily because the UK has been rapidly and exponentially losing its identity, character and traditions due to uncontrolled immigration and Brussells lawmaking. Polish has become the second most spoken language in the UK and the large intake of workers from various E. European countries has reduced job opportunities and wages for the indiginous population. There are many foreign offenders convicted of serious crime held in UK prisons and we are not allowed to deport them under EU rules (infringement of human rights). Some of those had already comitted crimes in their own country, were "on the run" and were allowed into the UK unchecked under EU "freedom of movement" rules. There is a long list of other reasons. The decision to Leave will give us problems over the next couple of years but I firmly believe that the UK will be better off in the long term than if we had voted to Remain in the failing EU whom I suspect have plans for further expansion and more widespread control of its current and future member countries including unification of its military and police forces. This referendum may serve as a precedent to other countries pulling out of the EU, some of which have 50% unemployment, severe austerity measures imposed and poor prospects of improvement if they remain in the club. :+1: |

| 1421948 | 2016-06-25 00:58:00 | The rot started for the "EU" when the EEC expanded from the original six countries, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy and (West) Germany to around 28 today, especially with the open borders. | Terry Porritt (14) | ||
| 1421949 | 2016-06-25 01:10:00 | Now they will have to put up border controls again, between Britain and Ireland, and Ireland and Northern Ireland. Passports and customs control between the two parts of Ireland. I wonder how quickly they can issue passports, and how many rorts will take place over that mad scramble? | John H (8) | ||

I am in favour of passports if it stops an endless stream of undesirables. |

The rot started when an unelected commission started to dictate to a sovereign country. Which is cause of demise, god save the queen. |

To make it worse, the government will have to reduce taxes to keep investment - so less revenue and less social spending. NHS will be run down, teachers will go on strike, the rich will spend their tax windfall on second houses and inequality will increase... Britain is not going to be a pretty place I think it was Paul Krugman who said Brexit would be an act of self harm |

Britain is not going to be a pretty place I think it was Paul Krugman who said Brexit would be an act of self harm If those voters do lose jobs, then perhaps mass emigration? I hive worked with English folk, and many are educated, well spoken, and talented . They seem to get jobs anywhere, in nearly any industry . Plus they can slip stream into many English speaking countries . In the 70's many English filled the void in trades as engineering, printing, where I worked . |
