2008-03-20 00:44:00 | Hi guys, Doing an XP Pro rebuild on an IBM machine, using an SP2 slipstream disc that I've used many times before . . . . . during installation, I got a BSOD referring to portcls . sys Did a reboot, and installation attempts to resurme, but after a few minutes, I get a popup looking for a Realtek AC97 audio driver - trouble is that neither my keyboard or mouse (tried USB & ps/2) will work, so I can't click past this . What's the go??

2008-03-20 00:53:00 | Was the CD made for this system?? Looks like a short term fix for it is to disable onboard sound. Then, try and fix it later Have you got the real drivers for the onboard card?? Looks like its a common prob (www.google.co.nz)

2008-03-20 00:56:00 | No the installation CD was made by a friend (SP2 slipstream) I wondered if that was the issue, but I've rebuilt over 10 PC's with it, and never had trouble before??

2008-03-20 01:14:00 | Hmmm I never had reason to doubt it WAS legit . . . . . There's a few google references to realtek driver not working too well with certain chipsets - I've disabled audio support in the BIOS, and am trying again . . . .

2008-03-20 01:27:00 | Well dont u think its strange, that you've used it on 10+ PC's?? Altho, it doesnt usually install audio drivers . You usually install them after . Unless whoever did the cd, added them in with Nlite or something

2008-03-20 01:36:00 | Speedy! :xmouth: ***. Weather it's pirated or not is completely beside the point. It was working, now it's not. I've had problems with installing XP on IBMs, Dell's etc, that type of PC. There is a possibility the disk is scratched, the HDD is faulty, the RAM is faulty or the optical drive is faulty, all of these heed to be ruled out, I'd throw a standard XPHSP2 (or pro if you have a key, make sure it's SP2) disk in there if this doesn't work, and try that.

2008-03-20 01:38:00 | Well make another cd then, when SP3 comes out ! Copy the cd to a folder on the hdd, (thats if it isnt stuffed), then wait for SP3 then slipstream, then try again
