| 650652 | 2008-03-18 23:47:00 | GIGABYTE EX38T-DQ6 Motherboard. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4G 8Mb FSB1066 CPU CPU fits into the board fine. Putting the Heatsink fan on top is proving a bit more of a challenge. I push the retainers down into the board and they do not seem long enough. If I get two in then the other two don't fit and the fan is not seated squarely on the CPU. Other than ripping the plastic retaining system off and using screws or some alternative I am not sure how to hold it on. I do have a CoolMaster Hyper 48 here but the brackets on that do not fit either due to the big lump of copper on the back of the new mboard. |

Maybe I had it 90 or 180 degree the wrong way is all i can think of, but looking at it it should have gone on in any one of 4 directions since the board is flat and the bottom of the heatsink's pins were all the same length. Oh well another mystery to ponder over easter. |

You cant really get the heatsink round the wrong way - the pins / locating holes in the board are in a square pattern. |

I did assume that it would or should go any one of 4 directions. The bloke at pbtech seemed to put hardly any pressure on them at all to lock them all down. I was on the verge of using a vice and squeezing them closed (but didn't) and I am twice the size of the bloke that did get it done. Maybe, just maybe it had to only go on one way on this particular board.. Gigabyte EX38T-DQ6. I hope it lasts as well and as long as my old ASUS boards. I have always had ASUS in the past. |
