349215 2005-04-26 22:05:00 A few years back we bought a tube of wasp bait - similar size tube to ones for building use.

We mixed the stuff with cat food, put it in a tin and hung it away from the house in a place cats couldn't get to (suspended in mid air half way between the deck and a tree).

The wasps came, ate, and took it back to the nests.

Anyone know where you can get this or something similar?

Carbaryl has wiped out one small nest, but not a bigger one, and multitudes of the little beasts are coming out of the dense bush.

Bush crashing looking for nests is not an option.

349217 2005-04-26 22:35:00 :o I was focussed on a particular product rather than newer current solutions.

Mitre 10 today it is and a look on their shelves for the "No Wasps bait concentrate".

Thanks for the link.

That or BV2 at night-time.

349221 2005-04-27 09:32:00 Well thanks guys!

Kicking the bush? Chucking rocks? Any volunteers (I'm allergic to the nasty things so think I'll skip it)

As for petrol and setting fire to them - it was suggested by the pyromaniac in the family last weekend .

I did point out that this could cause one or two problems in an insurance claim .

"Yes, we burnt the house down, 3 neighbours houses and of course 200 acres of bush BUT the Wasp Nests have GONE!!! (and the firemen were brilliant)"

Do you think I should reconsider?

349223 2005-04-27 10:21:00 Spray them with fly spray or something at night time.
They are quite inactive then, spray and run like heck the next day you should see them all dead, hopefully.

But honestly, Get yourself a tin of BV2. Its an insecticide which a lot of food businesses use on cockroaches and as such will work within 30 seconds after application on bugs. Just give the nest a REAL GOOD spraying with it before you run.
