2005-04-26 12:14:00 | Greetings one and all. This is just a general question so no need to spend hours looking up data (or am I the only one to do such things?) Seeing as I haven't ticked up any toys on my credit card since last year and i can feel the madness creeping up on me I thought this would be as good a time as any to bring up the subject of projectors for the purpose of home theatre/DVd playback. What price bracket would give the best value for money as far as a new item is concerned?,any particuler brands better then others?,specific models or features to look out for? What about second hand?,do they represent good value or are they over priced and knacked? In short,a buyers 101. any opinions on this one? www.trademe.co.nz All info greatly apreciated as always.

It is the results of a Price Spy search for the same thing as listed on Trademe . Ummmm . . . Makes the Auction look bad eh? Disclaimer: I'm too lazy to read the auction details and take no responsibility for the errors I may have made . |

2005-04-27 09:29:00 | Yes, it is . Unlike LCD screens! The BenQ FP937s+ is in my opinion the best 19" available to NZ customers . How about building your own projector . . . What you say? Don't know how? Why not read this tutorial from my friends at THG: Part 1 ( . tomshardware . com/howto/20041113/index . html" target="_blank">www . tomshardware . com) Part 2 ( . tomshardware . com/howto/20041201/index . html" target="_blank">www . tomshardware . com)

2005-05-26 11:30:00 | Anyway, So earlier today I grace a nameless large store that happens to be nationwide but lacks a website listing products, Im looking around trying to find the projectors ( i have mentioned them so many times at home now that Mrs Metla ignores the subject, which means i can bring one home and claim we have indeed discussed the purchase,Should go down like a football riot....muhahahaha) uh...where was i.....Oh yeah, walked around for 15 minutes getting ignored, went and stood in a high traffic area, put my hands behind my back and started to whistle, still completely ignored by any sales staff...so i wandered on over to the computer section to listen in on the lies comeing from the salesman to a young couple.. They were complaining that the computer they had purchased had inferior graphic abilities, contrary to what they had been told by the salesman, he informed them that the Extreme 3d graphics were the very best video chipset on the market. Anyhow, they wanted to know if they could fit a video card, and during their reseach had discovered their motherboard was an Elbido, and from what they could garner was a cheap and nasty piece of crap...completely out of line with the purchase price , Then the salesman informed them that the computer manufacturer in question used Asus boards exclusivly (seems I have ripped apart a few dozen of these comps and haven't seen an Asus board yet) and that their would be a top of the line unit, and that The manufacturer would have had the board rebranded..... Uh huh, And this stage I got peeved off and snap kicked him in the back of the head. No, In fact I butted in, told them it was pure folly that the brand in question would use a $300 Asus board (with intergrated graphics) and then rebrand it with an unknown name, Then I suggested they go to some one with real knowledge for advice. Actually I lie, I wandered away looking for a salesman who would sell me a projector, Never got served or even acknowleged, Wandered out and cursed my folly for even entering the bed of lies....

2005-05-26 22:04:00 | Thanks for the story, Metla. It must so so easy for computer sales people to pull the wool over customers' eyes. But then, so do dentists, lawyers, auto mechanics, ... etc. :@@: My vision of the tough WangVegas Wrestler has been dashed. :( He now appears to be a Walter Mitty (en.wikipedia.org) just like the rest of us.
