348849 2005-04-26 00:18:00 Trying SyncBack ex PC world suggestion. To use they ask for a source and destination.
What is meant by that?I have no idea.
Help would be much appreciated.

348850 2005-04-26 00:21:00 The source is what you want to back up. The destination is what you are backing up to, ie; supported media which may be a hard drive, CDR/CDRW, DVDR, flash drive, tape, another computer on a network, etc. Murray P (44)

The first thing they asked was profile,so I put in Picassa.
I put Picasa in source and hard drive, destination,it said no such thing.
In what form do you put there requests?

348852 2005-04-26 01:15:00 What are you wanting to back up, photo's, does it have a Browse or Browse To option for the source files and destination media (drive folder)? Murray P (44)

348855 2005-04-26 09:31:00 After reading this thread, I thought the syncback looked useful . To check it out I looked at the April PCW CD . Much info there, and a link to syncback site . Even more info, & a link to their forum . But after reading forum posts from users with many problems, I'm not sure .

Seems it will not 'span' CD or DVD discs . Often it will not write to RW discs . They say these discs need to be formatted as UDF . Their 'help' suggests this can be done in Nero or Easy CD creator, but later they admit it does not always work . There are many more user problems on the forum .

The forum comments put me off, but maybe these are isolated incidents .
It would be interesting to know if any PF1ers are using this syncback and getting satisfactory results?

Any comments,
Thanks .

348856 2005-04-26 09:51:00 I was looking for a decent back up system,so as to transfer to disc prior to reformatting, due a loss of sound.
Would I be better you use ghost for this?

348857 2005-04-26 11:00:00 Well, Cicero that question was one of many I saw on the syncback forum. The answer was no. It is not intended to do a full system backup, but only data backups. It was recommended to use a disk imaging app, such as ghost etc.

But can anyone give advice or experience with this app.?

Thanks Bazz, will give ghost a go.
Best of luck with app,the vibes are not looking good.
Would have thought if going to design backup app they would include all formats, but then what do I know,to put it kindly, not a lot :)
