349699 2005-04-29 02:18:00 I like the way Dell and many others use this line "Dell recommends Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional", and have XP Home installed.

Macs are nice to look at, but a rip off. Mac shops say you can only use this thing bought from a Mac shop for nearly double the price of what can be sourced elsewhere. eg. DVD drives, graphics cards etc

thats funny, ihave had no problems upgrading hd, burners, and ram without a problem either through dse or a local computer shop. Apple recommends there stuff but you won't void warrenty using after market gear
I don't feel i got ripped off, two years after purchase it was a pretty decent machine, widescreen monitor, dual format burner, and with every os update the machine has gotten faster, just waiting tiger

349701 2005-04-29 02:29:00 I was more reffering to their rip off selling tatics to suck people in to only using mac shops. I say if they can get away with it well done, but the average mac user should realy smarten up. Rob99 (151)

Well as there are only a few mac shops around i would have to disagree. But tring to buy one from a major retailer is just as bad, they are not interested in the product. Apple has tried to do something about that by putting blackshirts into harveys a couple times a week they are there to give customers infomation on there products as the regular saleman don't know squat

349703 2005-04-29 07:31:00 Exactly my point Edward, you pay more for quality.

Have a look through the currrent posts on this forum and the problems people are having. You don't get these problems on a Mac. due to the tight integration of all the components.

Just a selection of problems reported today
CD writer
Spyware
DVD drive
Firewalls
ComPorts
Viruses
Startup, Freezing Crashing Problems
Video driver problems
Java and Active X

so you never get broken cdwriters? im sure you would

I must say though in recent times there has been a lot of interest in Macs by people on this forum and a lot of the forum Mac users now feel they are able to post without creating an outburst from PC users about intruding on their forum."
Personally I am drawn to mac posts the same way that people are drawn to spectate at car crashes= morbid curiosity. That doesn't mean I want to be in a car crash.
As for the mac propaganda on their homepage I'm afraid that is all it is, amusing yes, believable no. Before I get leapt on by Macsters I would also point out that I am an equal opportunity disbeliever and dont believe any advertising blurb by any company on any product.
