349688 2005-04-28 06:05:00 No way! Linux makes you look like a sad lonely unwanted geek with malformed teeth and bad hair. Beer - home-brewed or otherwise - makes you better looking with each sip. After a few jugs, women will find you very attractive. vinref (6194)

349691 2005-04-28 22:30:00 Hmmm...When you take into account the fact that these aren't gaming machines no matter what the card is then it starts to make a little more sence,The 9600 is ideal for eveything right up to the point of high end gaming.

349692 2005-04-28 22:56:00 Well, Marketing propaganda is to be expected , Apple have had their hand slapped numerous times for false claims as to performance, Adobe even issued a statement a cuple of years back saying Apples were definitly not faster at Photoshop tasks, All testing that I have read from a non Mac source has never come close to the propaganda and they have always had easy access to a PC that spanks what ever top of the line mac they just happen to be testing.

If it comes down to throwing as much money at a system to see how powerful you can get then the PC wins, if its about a powerful system for the home user for a realistic price than the PC is so far ahead its not even a race, which would account for the small Mac market share. Though market share isn't really the end of the world, If Mac are shipping enough units to have money orgies then they have nothing to complain about.

I was more offended by the Farmers ad placed in PC World, stating their system with a FX5200 was the most powerful gaming rig in NZ.

Not like you to fan the flames Susan

I must say though in recent times there has been a lot of interest in Macs by people on this forum and a lot of the forum Mac users now feel they are able to post without creating an outburst from PC users about intruding on their forum.

It is obvious that many PC users are interested in the Mac posts and are reading the information on the links and making in the main thoughtful and informed comments. There is an increasing awareness I think that there are other viable operating systems available apart fron Windows.

even if they are exspensive, overpriced, stable, and reliable machines
I think window's users on this forum have to face some facts and they are those of you that have used a mac haven't done so in a long long time, and the ones that haven't used one at all are believing what they heard 4-8 years ago about a mac?
But if i am wrong i will hear about it

Still haven't benchmarked an SLI AMD FX-55 system though. I wonder why.

Are you wrong?

To make unfounded generalisations inorder to justify your belief that what you prefer has to be the best product ever made?, all the while ignoring any downsides and bringing up an outdated issue such as stability.

Heres another newsflash for ya, XP is stable as a rock, if its not then it needs fixing.OSX is comparable in stability, if its not then it needs fixing.

Personally I fail to see why so many Mac heads are on a campaign trail to justify their choice, Especially when its backed up with so much fluff that is easily countered.

Patience would wear thin just as quickly (far quicker infact) if we had Dell fans here spouting nonsence about them being the best ever,or announcing new lines and expecting people to be in awe.
