350014 2005-04-29 07:59:00 You would be surprised how much work I get from people so put out from the warrenty process provided by the big companies that they would rather pay to have it done locally.

The main complaint is machines being under repair for over a month and coming back still faulty. And of course not having any person-to-person service, they are kept in the dark

One guy a week ago got his comp back after a 4 month stint away getting fixed, fired it up,same issue, he brought it into me,dumped it on the floor and shelled out $1500 for a new one.

Sold his old rig to a kid for $80

Anyhow, Its a personal choice, And dictates were most would go to shop. From what I have seen those that think Harvey Norman is the place to shop deserve everything they get.....

350015 2005-04-29 09:59:00 Yes I'm finding that out. On trade me over three auctions not a single bid.And on the last one the reserve was only$800
No disrespect intended but you have a snowballs chance in hell selling it at that price ($450 might). BUT if you break it up into parts, the mortals on trade me hunger and bid outrageously. Hell I hd urgent need of a bog standard socket370 mobo for a friend so I looked on trade me tonight and found a little asus cusi m board no reserve. Didnt even bother looking after it reached $20 bucks, looked later and it went for $58. Going by that level of stupidity, yours could be worth 1K in parts easy. :D

Yes, nicely said. I agree and disagree.... while yes, the idea will work... I'm not too sure whether people will want parts that are HP. Not only will people worry about compability issues, but also as to whether someone may have stolen the goods and broken it up into parts.. etc... All sorts of thoughts could pop into mind.

now you are starting to sound like a apple hater, is hp stuff different to everybody elses?\
Metla, what happens when you go belly up, who do you expect to cover your warranty issues?

350018 2005-04-29 22:29:00 HP's gear is different from everybody elses in many circumstances,as is Compaq, dell,Gateway etc etc.

Who would look after the warrinties if I went belly up?

I would. If the very worst was to happen then I would just go back to working part time from home, Its not actually possible for me to go broke though.....

But like I said people that are worried about small operators disaperaing don't shop at those sort of places, they go to a retail chain.
