650941 2008-03-19 10:19:00 HI again.

Yesterday, with the help of 2 of you, I successfully connected my wireless modem. All was fine but it was a bit (600 or so kbps) slow. I contacted Ihug who tested lines etc. and told me the problem was between the modem and the PC. (ethernet betw. PC + Modem).

I have turned off my virus software and firewall, unplugged all the phones in the house, and swapped the ethernet cable, all to no avail. Ultimately i got fed up and decided Dick Smiths had sold me a crap modem, but even reconnecting my old Dlink made no difference. I have also cleared cache etc..

I have 2 gig of ram, a reasonable processor, vista, and while I don't know last weeks speed, it was certainly a hell of a lot better than this.

Any ideas?

650942 2008-03-19 10:45:00 You state you have a wireless modem.
If your computer is too far away from the router and you are connecting via wireless, you may have a poor reception.
If you are using the RS47 connection between the router and the computer, my guess is that you have a fax machine or something still hung across the circuit, perhaps a burglar alarm circuit.
It is unlikely to be Dick Smith!

650943 2008-03-19 14:38:00 Is the wireless conection set for 802.11 B/G?

Maybe you need to set the output channel to a different one?
