2008-03-19 11:21:00 | I claim first post bragging rights (pressf1.co.nz) on this and a couple of others have posted about it too but it does deserve its own thread. Just to re-iterate a point I think some may come up against, review the Vista SP1 requirements checklist (support.microsoft.com) before asking why SP1 doesn't seem to be offered on your Vista install (or work with the stand-alone) before you post here about it. I'd also recommend using Windows Update over the stand-alone if you're only updating one or two systems, this way you can be sure the update is going to go through fine on your system.

2008-03-20 08:12:00 | Ok, if you guys cannot find it on Windows Update, there is a reason, so do not download it! If you donwload the standalone anyway and get errors, then don't blame Microsoft, blame yourself, if you got it through Windows Update and had problems, call Microsoft, but this hasn't happened yet. | 650919 | 2008-03-22 02:26:00 | Why don't you download off Windows Update? Its 66 Mb there, all you have to do is download some Winodws Defender defination updates and you will then see it. | SPARTAN 860 (2618) | |
2008-03-22 02:32:00 | Why don't you download off Windows Update? Its 66 Mb there, all you have to do is download some Winodws Defender defination [sic] updates and you will then see it. That's too general an assumption but you are right. SP1 via Windows Update is a better option if you don't intend to use the standalone multiple times, you can also expect a comparatively lighter update.

2008-03-22 02:35:00 | What is the advantage to putting the 434MB version on? More bloat? I am running the 66MB Windows Update version, and despite what people are saying about it, I reckon things are faster. File copying is still slow, but it just seems snappier. | wratterus (105) | |
2008-03-22 02:48:00 | I totally agree with you watterus, before SP1 opening the control panel took 3 whole seconds!! now it opens immediately when i click it, as it should :) | SPARTAN 860 (2618) | |
