348259 2005-04-24 10:19:00 What are your personal likes or dislikes of the ecommerce sites in New Zealand/Worldwide? Is there any items which tend to stick out as quite good or bad? CreightonBrown (5692)
348260 2005-04-24 10:30:00 Navigation amongst e-commerce sites is atrocious, but that is probably due to the necessity of login-cookies - i.e, going back to a previous page after you have made some submission etc.

What e-commerce packages are you familiar with? Know any good, highly customiseable, php-based applications for listing classifieds (not auctions)?

That can be to do with tracking re: back pages, easy to fix with a small amount of work.

Re: PHP Classifieds i would suggest trying www.hotscripts.com (http://www.hotscripts.com)

I myself was building a PHP System quite similar to Trademe, in some case it had more features but the client pulled out.

It can take quite a team, not just a developer or buyer to make it work well.

Lately i started on www.rentaflat.co.nz (http://www.rentaflat.co.nz) as well.

What will the classified system manage?

It will manage classified adverts left by visitors to the site. And I need it as open source as possible. I have been fooling with Noah's Classifieds, but the PHP and CSS are all over the bloody place. Add to that I am just learning PHP, MySQL and XHTML, so it's slow going.

What i would suppose to you is there is more to it than coding it alone, that it may require other skills as well.

e.g. marketing, sales, customer skills or so forth.

It may be possible to compete with others but its worth considering the SWAT Technique [May want to investigate]

that it may be worth planning to see the feasibility beyond 'can it be coded'

I realise what you do is your choice, this is just ideas.
