651732 2008-03-23 01:28:00 I have a Winfast TV2000 XP Deluxe TV Tuner/Video capture card (see here (www.leadtek.com))

Currently installing XP Media Centre Edition on my 2nd box which I want to shift into the living room.

Question is... do I need to buy a Media Centre Remote or can I use the remote which came with the tuner card.

Cheers,

651734 2008-03-24 07:45:00 If it works on the XP you have now I can't see any reason why it wont work once you move it.
Media Centre is basically XP with a few added in programs - the media part being 1 of them. So you should have the same functions as you have now if using the same Hardware.

651735 2008-03-24 08:26:00 Try it and find out :p It should.

I tried with my Hauppauge PVR350 remote and that worked fine. But no certainties.

651736 2008-03-24 19:41:00 Does that TV Tuner have onboard MPEG2 hardware encoding?
If not it won't work with Media Center anyway.

651737 2008-03-25 07:09:00 MCE says it cannot detect my tuner, yet I can install and run the PVR software which comes with the card!!!

Strange indeed.

Most likely does not have MPEG2 hardware decoder onboard then like I said earlier.

Perhaps Mediaportal may be worth a try ( as a MCE alternative)

651740 2008-03-26 01:49:00 Hmm I've just noticed, if the winfast wizard runs on startup, if you right mouse on its icon, there's an MCE remote option?

And you can tick it with the Deluxe, what it does, I have no idea !

This is using PVR2, not the older program, for the Deluxe tuner

651741 2008-03-26 07:32:00 SPEEDY MATE YOU ARE A LEGEND!!!!!

Ticked the MCE option and the remote not starts Media Centre... it's a bit finicky navigating.. no back, forward, close etc... I may have to read the manual or something...

Cheers buddy
