651591 2008-03-22 09:56:00 Hi People :banana

I am planning to purchase a wireless modem. Am I able to plug my router into this or do I have to purchase a wireless router aswell? The modem must have QoS. Will look at any price range.

Thanks.

651592 2008-03-22 17:30:00 Probably be better if u brought a wireless modem / router in one.

That supports QOS

651593 2008-03-22 19:57:00 Any particular brand/model?

What is the difference between ADSL and a standard Modem?

Also, this will be for 3 computers.
Fireranger19 (13106)
651594 2008-03-22 19:59:00 Nope, the one I use here supports QOS tho (Dlink G604T).

There maybe others.

But this one hasnt failed or stuffed on me yet (altho I dont use QOS, but it does support it). Its ADSL2+, has 4 ethernet ports, and supports wireless (up to G that is), as well.

651595 2008-03-22 20:07:00 So this will work for 3 computers? What do you mean by "G"? Fireranger19 (13106)
651596 2008-03-22 20:10:00 Wireless G.

Yup its got 4 ports so 4 pc's (the main one plugs into the back), and 3 networked PC's.

As well as the wireless.

So the other other computers can connect, with either ethernet or use wireless adapters

651597 2008-03-22 20:37:00 I recommend Linksys, only brand I will buy for my networking

You can get a 4 port wireless ADSL router/modem such as the Linksys WAG200G (www-nz.linksys.com) and that will do everything, QOS, wireless B and G (wireless standards) and you can also plug your current router in to act as a switch/hub to allow even more Ethernet ports.

651598 2008-03-22 20:37:00 Right. So a Main PC and 3 others can fit into the back, while any others can connect wirelessly .

Is there a certain place to get them?
Fireranger19 (13106)
651599 2008-03-22 20:56:00 Any computer shop, or even Dick Smith may sell them .

Or get a Linksys, like what CB posted .

Yup the main PC's ethernet plugs into the back, along with up to 3 other PC's by ethernet .

I spose it depends on how much you want to spend .

The one I've got is similar to this ( . dse . co . nz/cgi-bin/dse . storefront/47e5727200d332622740c0a87f3306dc/Product/View/XH6221" target="_blank">www . dse . co . nz)

Altho, mine doesnt stand up like that, it sits flat on something (with the rubber feet on the bottom of it), but it wasn't that dear either .

651600 2008-03-22 20:59:00 I found these but none mention QoS...?
