651504	2008-03-22 04:09:00	I have read about a lot of Vista problems since its release, and some people are saying that they are mysteriously running out of hard drive space. here is how to fix 3 very common problems. For all of these to work, type cmd in the Vista start menu search bar, and right click run as administrator 1. How to limit the hard drive space System Restore uses In cmd, type "vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize=4GB" without the quotes to change the max size system restore uses. Replace 4GB with another number (eg 2GB) to limit it to 2GB and so on. 2. Problems upgrading to Vista SP1? try typing "sfc /scannow" in cmd admin mode without the quotes 3. Don't ever use hibernation and want some extra memory? type "powercfg –h off" in cmd admin mode to turn it off. If you want to turn it back on, replace off with on. Once again don't type the quotes. 651506	2008-03-23 09:47:00	One thing that SP1 has brought will be handy for people that have Vista Pre-installed and No Install DVD. You can now create a recovery/boot CD. This is a recovery CD that boots the PC into the recovery section of Vista should it not boot, don't confuse it with a restore DVD to completely restore the PC / Reinstall. Heres How. Click the start Orb / All programs / Maintenance / Create a Recovery Disc / Follow onscreen Instructions If you boot this CD it will look identical to the Windows installation disc. You will be asked to choose a language and even present you the “Install now” button. This of course wont work and it will stop with an error message. Click on Repair your computer, bottom left and what you will get is The recovery window options (www.imagef1.net.nz) all fully functional.	wainuitech (129)
651507	2008-03-23 18:25:00	Anyone know why I don't get the option to update to Vista SP1 under "Windows Update". I have installed all updates in the list and ran the "sfc/scannow" which showed everything was fine.Windows update just says "Windows up to date", and I have never installed any of the beta versions of SP1. 651511	2008-03-24 07:34:00	Just an amendment to my post Number 3 regarding the making of a recovery CD. Apparently lots of Vista SP1's are not showing the program, it is still there in the system32 file, But someplace between the Beta, where it was working and the SP1 something got changed and its one of the flaws that MS are working on fixing along with other things that SP1 has broken. I tried it on the RC version and it worked fine. If any one wants this boot CD, and it's worth while having BEFORE you need it to get a system thats gone belly up running again you can download the ISO image Here from this site (neosmart.net) and make a boot CD. On XP you can manually adjust the space, simply right click My Computer /properties - then open system restore tab, and move the slider to what ever you want, click OK - min is 200Mb or turn it off altogether.	wainuitech (129)
