651455 2008-03-21 23:19:00 If I copied a disk from an Asus laptop, XP Home SP2, would that help? Greg (193)

651457 2008-03-22 00:07:00 Any reason you dont simply reload windows from one of the OS CD's you already have, Use the COA which should be stuck to the underside of the Laptop - then go to HP Driver download (h10025.www1.hp.com) <<<<< For that model of Lappie, and install the original drivers.

That way you wont get all the HP Crap that comes on the recovery CD's, and it will run faster without their rubbish

been there tried that with lappys before.........VLK can be problem.....

usually get to the point where it wants the COA but wont accept either the one from the sticker or the one I'll get from the system......

651459 2008-03-22 02:24:00 Ok, it doesn't matter, when you cannot activate a legal Winodws OS using a legal key, call microsoft, and then they will help you activate it. SPARTAN 860 (2618)
651460 2008-03-22 02:29:00 thanks for your input but i've had this problem before drcspy (146)
651461 2008-03-22 04:06:00 I've never had them complain about the COA. Unless I've made a typo.

But Able Business Machines in Auckland I've found to be the most helpful, more helpful than ringing HP/Compaq themselves.

They are Compaq agents and can supply recovery CDs, that is, if its not too old.

651463 2008-03-22 05:23:00 I've got restore cds (11 of them lol), for some laptop / notebook.

I just cant remember what the model was (its not mine, I connected the hdd from that to this), then copied the ISO's off it then burned them.
