| 351672 | 2005-05-03 06:18:00 | Here's a subject dear to all our hearts, I'm sure... would you pay to post comments to Press F1? No, didn't think so. Nobody told the Aussies however. This story on Slashdot: yro.slashdot.org about AtomicMPC says it all... <snip> AtomicMPC is an Australian PC Magazine with a fiercely loyal readership and an equally loyal online community. Yesterday it was announced that access to the most popular sections of the forum will soon attract a $20/year fee unless you are a magazine subscriber or a high-ranking forum member. <snip> Still, the question has to be asked: as publishers struggle to make money (no, really) will we see more of this kind of carry on? carry on. |

| 351673 | 2005-05-03 06:32:00 | I must admit I am a 'every so often' reader of the 'General' forums of Atomic and seeing all of that going amazes me. I was reading the forums earlier yesterday and didnt notice the forum upgrades change till later last night.... All I can say is OUCH! |

| 351676 | 2005-05-03 07:03:00 | They'll find out how loyal their members are. It might be a good thing if they have a percentage of ratbags who spoil things with abuse. Those are likely to be the first drop outs. | Graham L (2) | ||

If their mag is as bad as the website I'll give it a miss If the mag has an annual best/worst site design award I hope theirs will be topping the worst list I had to put the oakleys on to read it, what a mess Their design team need some serious lessons in usability & legibility Awful!! |

Personally I liked their previous version of their site v2.0 The current one v2.5 looks like some amateur did it. Bring back the old version I say |
