351537 2005-05-02 11:25:00 Hi...
We want a couple of cheap cell phones for backups...so far $129 Nokias at Telecom are the best we can do. Vodafone has a Nokia for the same price but they add $20 for some sort a card to get it started. We just want a prepay system. Dick Smith has one at the above price too. Any know of a better price than these? Cheers....P

351539 2005-05-02 12:15:00 paradox,

I guess you heard too late, though DSE probably still have mobile phones going at $38 inc GST, it was a price only for instore, and most of those phones quickly sold from the larger city areas, this was either last week or the week before. Might be still available.

Many major outlets like Noel Leeming should still have the Motorola colour C155 for $79 with free handsfree and charger... etc. as well as sim card.

351542 2005-05-03 05:39:00 Whats the cheapest for a vodaphone cell without simcard as my partners cell is a very old alcatel one touch with a battery that seems to need to be recharged 5-6 times a week (new battery is about $40 and the phone has a few other problems) Morgenmuffel (187)
351543 2005-05-03 05:51:00 You could have a look on trademe for something second hand. I just bought an old Nokia 8210 for $47. ad_267 (6193)

351546 2005-05-03 10:58:00 I would defintely advise going for Vodafone....

Not because I'm biased towards them, but because you're going to use them for backup, right?

Vodafone phones, use SIM cards... That means that you can take out the sim card in one phone, pop it into any other (even your friend's), and it'll work. You retain the same number. Easy! Just open battery door, take out the sim card, and transfer that.

For telecom, you can't.

Simple as that... Go with Vodafone
