350358 2005-04-29 13:33:00 I hate these idiots who leave their phones on in the cinema which make all sorts of idiotic ringtone sounds. Disapproving looks, popkorn kernels blown through straws, and mightily-hurled jaffas don't stop 'em, so maybe jamming their mobile signals will, according to this article (www.nzherald.co.nz). Not so sure it can be done though, and it may be against the law in public places. If not, then I am hurling my jandals at the back of their stoopid heads. vinref (6194)
350359 2005-04-29 13:53:00 I have never been to a New Zealand cinema, but from my experience, I just hate it when handphone rings in a cinema. Renmoo (66)
350360 2005-04-30 10:16:00 If you're in Auckland, go to Berkeley Cinemas in Botany Downs...

Either they have really thick walls, or there are mobile phone jammers, cause i can't get any signal inside the cinema, but once outside, it's on full strength

I'm really looking forward to going there and getting their premium seats for the upcoming Star Wars movie! :nerd:

The last time I went to the Cinema in NZ you used a shangai to hurl the jaffas. At that time we were using fountain pens at school as well. Biros were not allowed as it could destroy your handwriting.

I do have a mobile phone now but it stays in the car when I go to a show.

350363 2005-05-01 21:50:00 Cell phone jammers required immediately in Cinemas, Theaters, Resturants & Cars.
It's getting insane, some may as well have the darn things implanted on the side of their heads. :annoyed:

350365 2005-05-02 03:19:00 Telecom and Vodafone have responded (www.nzherald.co.nz), saying they don't like the plan. It may also not be legal to do this deliberately.

So it's back to the jandals and lollies in the back of the head.

350366 2005-05-02 06:05:00 Telecom and Vodaphone don't like this idea? What a surprise. "In an emergency people might want to use their cellphones". In the sort of "emergency" which might become common, the victims won't be able to reach the phone to call for help because the phone will have been pushed out of reach up a bodily orifice ... 350367 2005-05-02 06:24:00 I do believe it is as illegal as jamming a particular radio frequency. Otherwise you might find that ZM would operate a jammer on the frequencies of The Edge, and such forth activities... agent (30)
