350150 2005-04-29 04:49:00 As the Title/poll asks?

Personally I waited around a year or so before changing, brought on more by new hardware and programs rather then just because MS had released a new OS.

As it was I installed it and removed it 5 or 6 times, 98 was hard to let go of.

I would say that due to my changed circumstances I wil be forced to go Longhorn on the day it come out.

350151 2005-04-29 04:53:00 I bought Windows 2000 Professional, even though Windows XP Professional was already out. I am still not convinced as to the "true" security benefits of Windows XP.

However, I have sucumbed to it at Work as my laptop uses a processor that takes advantage of it.

Answer: No

350152 2005-04-29 04:57:00 I did look on with curiosity, but by then I was well into the dark side...open source. I have never regretted my decision, and I don't think I will ever, either. So no, never. vinref (6194)
350153 2005-04-29 04:58:00 about 6 months later, but my old pc wasn't really up to it so back to 98 till i could aford an upgrade plod (107)
350154 2005-04-29 05:07:00 XP Home came as an OEM and saw no point in downgrading. Was using 95 at the time so XP was a huge leap forward, even if it only had 128mb of RAM Edward (31)
350155 2005-04-29 05:31:00 I was using WinME, so yeah anyone in their right mind would upgrade that ASAP. vapo (5203)
350156 2005-04-29 05:39:00 A while after it came out yup .

As no other version could/would detect / install drivers for this digital video cam, besides XP .

The only cd the cam came with was to transfer photos from the cam, not to use the firewire port thats on it .

So I could capture/transfer video to and from the cam .

350157 2005-04-29 06:24:00 when i brought my new pc it came with winxp home Prescott (11)
350158 2005-04-29 06:48:00 Only recently and only because there was no Win98 driver suppport for my new hardware. (Why fix it if it wasn't broken) pctek (84)
350159 2005-04-29 06:55:00 When I bought this comp, it came with XP home. As I had only used Win98 on an ex-flatmates comp (on and off for about 6 months), and XP was already installed I thought I would stick with it.
Upon experiencing XP Pro, I opted for that as soon as I could afford it.
