2008-03-22 23:53:00 | You most likely have a physical fault on your phone line combined with attenuation as a result of distance from the exchange. I suggest you make sure you have a wire maintenance contract with Telecom, if not you can ring Telecom and request one no questions asked. They only cost about $5.00 a month on top of line rental and save you big bucks if work needs to be done on your lines or jackpoints. Then request a line analysis, if it comes up bad then a techie can go out and fix the problem.

2008-03-23 00:05:00 | ... there are registry settings you can edit to make internet connections faster ... ... and if they are coordinated, it isn't only faster but also qualitatively better. Some informations you can find on www.speedguide.net Use the TCP/IP analyzer to get a first overview about your connection. btw. I have also made a speed test. Here my results: to Auckland www.speedtest.net to Frankfurt (Germany) www.speedtest.net

2008-03-23 02:11:00 | Has anyone else in the world got this speed?? www.speedtest.net I am in Whangarei and i was testing with auckland, is there any way to get better internet? I was thinking about Xnet but would it be any faster on these cruddy lines? :angry :illogical If you are paying for broadband, you're being robbed. But how far are you from your exchange. or local roadside box? If you are out of range theirs not a lot you can do. I am in Rotorua, with xnet. My readings are download 4000+ KBps and upload over 700. Suggest you phone xnet and ask what you can expect from them

2008-03-23 02:15:00 | Too bad if you tried to ring Xnet today. There was noone there. They were down in Auckland (dunno bout anywhere else), from 10.20 till just past 2.30 today. Something failed, and byebye DSL and Voice for some. Dialup didnt work either, so whatever died affected DSL and dialup. Altho you could connect on dialup but you couldnt go anywhere. Or update anything

You can have the world's greatest ISP but your DLs will still be sh*t if the copper is poor. Especially suspicious is that your upload speed is faster than the download. |
