I think that superfishnz got a good deal.

that you can't argue with, me personally would never buy a non knowen brand, will they be around in a year, then again i wouldn't buy a shuffle either.

351210 2005-10-24 19:47:00 I cant believe im going to say this, but I totally agree with Metla.

Personally I like my iMate JAM. Ive got a 512MB SD-Card. I re-encode most songs at approx 48Kbps 32,000hz AAC Audio, so it actually sounds pretty alright through the headphones :) Songs end up being about 1.5MB each.

Plus I can do Videos... Ive got about 30 on there at the moment (around 8MB ea).

I also talk on MSN/IRC from my "mp3 player" :D

351211 2005-10-24 19:52:00 My first MP3 player as the RIO PMP 300 (www.amazon.com) a 32mb device, I think it was the first portable hardware MP3 player. Personally I have never got the ipod thing. I guess it was becasue that old PMP 300 turned me against devices that need a additional program supplied by the manufacturer to transfer media.

My current mp3 player is a ageing creative MuVo2 (www.creative.com) I guess I'm in the market for a new MP3 player, and the ipod nano has just about enough features to make it worth it. However I think I'll wait for the nokia N91 (www.gsmarena.com). It has 4GB of storage, and a bunch of other features I am after (wifi for SIP mostly). I'll have pretty much all my stuff in one handy little package.

351213 2005-10-24 20:05:00 And?

I never said ipods aren't good, Just that they are more then I would spend on an Mp3 player. I couldn't care less if God himself stated he preferred an ipod.

Actually the Ultimate Elected Deity doesn't have an MP3 player and unless the Heavenly Services Commission gives me pay rise I don't think I'll be getting one soon. If I did have the mulaah, it would be a tough choice between a Nano and a Zen.

351215 2005-10-25 00:56:00 that you can't argue with, me personally would never buy a non knowen brand, will they be around in a year, then again i wouldn't buy a shuffle either.

When you say "will they be around in a year" question, even if a well known brand will be around in a year's time, who's to say the model you have now will be outdated and no longer supported in a year's time?

Looking at the rate the Apple are releasing their ipods - ipods, ipod mini, ipod shuffle, ipod Nano and now the ipod video, who's to say in a year's time your iPod won't be supported anymore and they're going to do away with support for them? I've read somewhere that they are phasing out ipod mini in favour of the Nano's, so will your iPod Mini be supported in a year's time? If so how much will it cost you to have it fixed once it's out of warranty?
