| 351058 | 2005-05-01 21:57:00 | Wouldn't touch any of their DSE rebranded gear, Would feel dirty owning a cyber-drive.... Why mention Cyberdrive here? It's not a DSE rebrand and they're not the worst drives out there. How much cleaner could ANY "made for the cheapest possible price" DVD drive make you? |

| 351059 | 2005-05-01 22:06:00 | Our VCR has packed up and we need another simple one meantime.DSE has a basic DSE on on special which expired yesterday but they say is really still open. They also have a Sony for some $50 more. Anyone know either of these ? | TonyF (246) | ||

How much cleaner could ANY "made for the cheapest possible price" DVD drive make you? Simple, I wouldn't buy a "made for the cheapest price" item, $10 more gets you an Asus or lite-on, $20 more gets you a Sony. As for it not being a rebadge, Based on the fact that Cyber-drives are constantly changing plus their is no unoformity across the range and only available from DSE I would say they are, I am more then willing to see some proof otherwise. |

It's normally easier to get what you want (from the staff) at DSE 3- Product Base. Is there anything electronic they don't have? 4- Reasonable prices. On most products anyway. Sure you can get stuff cheaper elsewhere, but does it have the same warranty protection, is it as reliable and is it as easy to get to/find? 5- Honour & Pride. Yes, that's right. DSE is what got me started. Those cool little Funway electronics kits. I would probably be outside in the garden hitting things with a stick if it wasn't for my first soldering iron. 6 - Ignorance |

| 351062 | 2005-05-01 22:39:00 | Yes I buy alot of stuff from DSE. Got a XH1169 ADSL Router in January from them for $108, I see it now retails for $159. Also when I was on dialup, I bought one of those things that allows you to recieve incoming phone calls while online. It stopped working after 6 months and I took it back and they replaced it with another one, after getting it checked by there service dept. in Auckland. Trevor:) |

| 351064 | 2005-05-01 23:36:00 | Cyberdrive or Cyberhome is a "brand" but it's not a DSE controlled brand. The Cyberdrive 162 DVD burner is based on the Philips chipset but the drive isn't made by Benq so it doesn't seem to be a rebadge. Its reputation as a burner seems as least as good as Asus/Pioneer or Liteon/Sony as they all have weaknesses. Retail price in NZ is no guide to quality. The low US prices give you a much better idea of the manufacture cost. | PaulD (232) | ||

| 351066 | 2005-05-01 23:49:00 | Indeed, They are a brand, Though I took the step of finding the info, Dunno how I missed it before as I could have sworn I looked it up earlier. Anyhow. www.cyberdrive.com.tw Thank god I have a Lite-on..... |

| 351067 | 2005-05-02 00:00:00 | "What are their weaknesses?" You'd have to research the particular model.Try the reviews on CDRLabs and CD Freaks. New models of supposedly good brands can be duds. For example a recent Lite-on was described as Acceptable DVD-Writer at 8x Writing speed, but 16x writing still needs improving. And very poor CD-Writing quality doesnt make this drive your first choice. |
