| 651373 | 2008-03-23 06:16:00 | Ok to the person who had it running in Virtual PC, did it install OK Did you need to install something to slow it's speed down?I ask because I couldn't get Dos 6 and wfw 3.11 working in Virtual PC, Yeah, installed fine for me each time I installed it (DOS 6.22/WfW 3.11). Didn't install anything to 'slow it down'. I think VPC does that for you, in a way, by emulating old hardware. Some apps (eg MS Word 6.0) don't run at all well under VPC for some reason. Word, for example, sometimes complains that "there is not enough memory to run Word" when I have allocated the VM 64MB, and have virtual memory enabled. It shows as having over 100MB in the help screen of Program Manager. I can supply FREE drivers (these are not pirated :D ) for download. Unfortunately I can't remember where I got them from so I'd need to upload them somewhere. Drivers I have are: VGA card, network card and sound. Only for VPC though. Won't work unless your machine has a S3 Trio 64 VGA card, a Intel 21140 LAN card, and a Sound blaster 1.0 sound card (VPC emulates these devices). I have a driver that enables Windows to see VPC's CD-ROM drive (Win 3.1/wfw 3.11 don't have drivers for CD-ROM drives). It sometimes crashes when starting Windows after installing drivers. I have also found that using 16 colour display (the default) in Win 3.1/WFW 3.11 often results in a large area of the screen coloured black, resulting in an almost unusable 'session'. This is fixed when display drivers installed and colour quality/resolution increased. |
