652100 2008-03-23 22:38:00 There is perhaps another option - networking over the powerlines, which I have heard of but no experience with.
If you want some basic background info check out this (computer.howstuffworks.com)old howstuffworks page. Powerline networking speeds seem to have have increased to 85 and 200 Mbps (netgear HD) since then.

Dick Smiths used to sell the Homeplug brand, googling homeplug turned up this (www.trademe.co.nz)trademe listing, and this (www.ascent.co.nz)Ascent listing.

Finally googling powerline lead to this (www.netgear.co.nz)Netgear NZ webpage. Acquire.co.nz has some listings for these products, but they're expensive.
There have been a couple of relevant threads in this forum. Is anybody using powerline networking?

652101 2008-03-23 23:13:00 The range of 802.11g is 30 metres IIRC - that's why I didn't mention it. ;) Then answer me this... Why do I have my PS3 connected via wireless which is 40M (line) from the wireless AP through walls and I still get good signal and range???? The_End_Of_Reality (334)

a) IIRC = if I recall correctly (obviously I didn't - its range is up to 140 metres)
b) It could be 802.11n.

A PS3 only has 802.11b/g ;)

It works really well . One of my work's customers use it, but I can't remember the brand name .
