You want to export to the PST file type . . when you get to the folder area - collapse the tree diagram and tick "include all subfolders", on the new HDD with new windows you can install MS Outlook and import it back in from the same way . If you are going to copy this PST file to the CD or DVD . . copy the file back to the HDD before you import or else it won't work, you may also need to right click the file and untick read only . Cos it does it automatically when you copy to CD or DVD and importing does not work with that . For your other bits just copy them over when the new HDD and new windows is working . When the new HDD is connected and its master you may need to do a jumper settting - refer to the manual . That is if its a ATA and not a Serial ATA HDD . When you boot the windows CD . . it will ask you where you want to install the windows . . choose the HDD and specify the partition size and also format it fully before install which is the option in the Windows Setup . When windows is working, you can right click My Computer and select "Manage" and in there you can allocate extra partitions and then format each one fully . PS . Just to be on the safe side, you may wish to copy the PST file to a DVD or CD and all the other bits . Then unplug the old HDD, plug in the new HDD and install windows and then plug in the old HDD as slave (2nd HDD) . That way you won't select the wrong HDD via setup and wipe it by mistake . :D Ahh . . because I have done this before back in the old days with DOS - fdisk . exe or even some of the windows when it does not recognise the new HDD or when you have multiple partitions . . For activating windows - that not an issue, it let's you use it for like 50x before I think before it locks you out . So that's plenty of time . You can register online or via telephone . |

I do film scanning too and that's 80MB or 120MB per shot :D 500GB is a good HDD size or get a pair and run them in a strip mode, 2 become one (whatever # strip RAID that is) 1,000GB and a 3rd as external HDD for backup  For your friend to call MS should be fine. For the time being you can use it for xx amount of time before you call them... |
