351118 2005-09-12 05:01:00 Im about to buy a Wireless LAN from DSE, they've got to 802.11g card for CHEAP! Chilling_Silence (9)
351119 2005-09-12 13:40:00 Apart from what has already been stated, they have the best priced laptops by far, (currently $1197.00 for a good entry level with a 15" screen) a far better deal than the outdated crud the warehouse is selling by the truckload for over a hundred dollars more on special.

HAHA, "Good Entry Level" thats an OxyMoron if i ever heard one. if its entry Level, Its not good. all these laptops that DSE do are rubbish, a few years old, New Zealand is a huge dumping ground for old technology. These Pcs that Dell are doing at the warehouse, Yea, there old, they cant sell them anywhere else, so We take them and sell them. New Zealand is too small to have all the latest technology, we cant sell enough of it to keep the manufacturor's interested. If everyone stopped buying these "256mb RAM, huge 40Gig HDD" machines, and actually spend a bit of money, we wouldnt be faced with them. and to show how OLD they are....my suppliers no longer offer 40GIG HDD's. LOL.

Of course it's not necessary, but we all want one with all the bells and whistles. Even if we never use most of them.

Like me I have a machine that has everything, but most of the network and fire wire, and blue nose and card reader are disabled in bios.

351122 2005-09-12 21:41:00 What really amuses me is that Vista is going to want a 4Ghz PC w/2GB RAM, 256MB Video Card....

And all most home users will want to do is safely & securely check emails :-P

I know when my grandparents upgrade their 133Mhz w/32MB Ram soon, they're likely to be doing exactly the same thing with it as before except that little bit faster.Imagine if they wait another year and a half and get one of the first PC's bundled with Vista?! You have to wonder.....

I gotta agree with bob_doe_nz and Jack on this one.

351123 2005-09-12 21:52:00 I can't see why technology would stand still,because we don't understand it,or need it. Cicero (40)

351125 2005-09-13 08:33:00 DSE is ok...not Awesome...just ok. Mr Wetzyl (362)
351126 2005-09-14 10:06:00 Convenince - $10 DVD Blanks (for 10) - cheap CD's - Linux Distros - sometimes they advertise stuff that is just the cheapest in the country. Pick and choose - nobody would buy everything there. Twelvevolts (5457)
351127 2005-09-14 16:42:00 ...mein gott...
dse's stuff tends to be of a consistently lower quality than say jaycars...
here in rotorua theres only one guy in the whole place that knows enough not to fry your gear when selecting a wall wart for it...
and, coming from a pro audio repair background...their service dept.is just scary...twice now ive taken something in for repair that i bought there, and twice now ive got it back with a PEBKAC type statement on the service reciept...and twice ive had to *patiently* explain to them that the original problem was still there...and then prove it(so much for the customer is always right...)...
IMHO
