| 651975 | 2008-03-23 07:50:00 | Hi, I've got a socket 939 amd athlon 64 3200+ 2.0ghz and its extremely slow playing games and even just on the net and using other programs.I've got Steam and there lastest games like HL2 , C0D4 and counter strike and lots of lag. I need to upgrade , I've got 1.5gb of DDR ram and should i get Socket 939 Dualcore off Trademe and upgrade to two gig of ram or get new mobo Socket AM2 and 2G of DD2 ram and AM2 x2 dualcore? Is socket 939 dualcore slower than AM2 Dualcore. Thanks | Alexhughes79 (6949) | ||
| 651976 | 2008-03-23 10:15:00 | I don't know how much you have to pay for dual cores socket 939 in NZ, but in germany the socket 939 dual cores are really expensive by now. Maybe you come cheaper and better with a new board. Has your VGA AGP or PCIe port? |

Try a water cooled setup for gaming and be careful how you do this. :help: Other than than that you can get an AM2 cpu which will fit in the 939 motherboard. I use a Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard with 4 gig RAM and a 7900 PCIe Video card. Athlon dual core 4400+ But may I ask what games will take advantange of a dual or quad core CPU? |

What's the cooling on your rig like, are all fans clear? Something could be overheating. Do you get an BSOD when it crashes? | 651983 | 2008-03-23 20:46:00 | No , I have to restart because of lag, I've got 2 working 120"fans , One at the back and one in the psu and one is broken at the front of the case.Graphics card has a nice fan and The normal amd heat sink and fan for cpu .
