651439 2008-03-21 21:43:00 This dynabook TX\670LSJ shuts down after few minutes randomly; but sometimes it lasts for > 1 hour without shutting down. When running AVG Anti Spyware scan, it shuts down after about 3 ~ 4 minutes.

Performed a Memtest and it shuts down just after ~2 minutes. Checked the fan, seems to be functioning OK and it's quite clean.

Time to upgrade?:D

651442 2008-03-22 00:49:00 Removed battery run MemTest, still shuts down after ~3 min. Run AVG Anti-spyware scan completed the scannning process without any issue, though.

Hardware problem?

651443 2008-03-22 03:01:00 Do you really mean shutting down? or are you auto restarting instead. SPARTAN 860 (2618)
651444 2008-03-22 04:05:00 Are you sure it's not overheating? jwil1 (65)
651445 2008-03-22 05:02:00 It just shuts down after a few minutes of running the Memtest, and sometimes when I open a few webpages at the same time, and running AVG Spyware scan, etc.

The cooling fan is running fine and I can physically see through the grille that it is pretty clean. It could be over-heating, but how do I know, even if it is over heating, how to overcome it? Went in to BIOS setup, unfortunately everything is in Japanese and I don't understand it at all! :badpc:

Try using Sensors View (stvsoft.com).

Theres another one I used with a Toshiba a while ago and it worked a treat, but I can't remember the name of it.

Downloaded and installed Sensor view, but apparently, it doesn't detect the CPU & MB temperatures, instead it only detects the HDD temperature which is running at 39° C.
