351517 2005-05-02 11:19:00 Sorry if I start a Telecom / Vodaphone war....

But just as someone who travels out of NZ regularly, personally, telecom's 3G is not 3G. Sure, their data rates using EV-DO might be quite fast. But to comsumers around the world, 3G means streaming video clips (not downloading clips, that can be done with GPRS), and more importantly, video calling.... Does Telecom have that? No... IMO, "Push 2 Talk" is not 3G either.

What's more, their ads are misleading as well. I distinctly remember this little boy saying on the ad "I want to see my mommy talking on the phone". And instead of video calling, all the boy did was see a picture of his mother. How is that talking on the phone????

Anyway, on another point, my 3G phone is eager and waiting for Vodafone 3G to go live

It should be a given that any Telecom propaganda be taken with 40 or 50 ton of salt.

351519 2005-05-02 11:39:00 The technology has been round for years now, but still no video phones. PXT what a waste of time.

On a side note I was looking at some vodaphone mobiles today and they are not that great to look at. Only a few flip-top ones that I liked. Telecom ones had lots more nicer looking ones like silver etc. Is it just me or do Nokias look like absolute crap?
