350140 2005-04-28 23:24:00 Just wondering if anyone else shares my feeling that the PC World web site appears to be on long-term geriatric life support. The phrase, "It is dead but like a zombie it walks" comes to mind.

I miss the more lively buzz of yesteryear - but maybe I'm imagining things and it's always been sort of dull.

So go ahead and flame me - I can take it :)

350141 2005-04-28 23:30:00 I too noticed that, I was looking at the site yesterday and noticed some of the links in the download section we real old. Overdrive_5000 (4950)
350142 2005-04-28 23:32:00 Actually the new IDG homepage is bad too. I used to look at it to see the headlines from the various IDG sections. I have now removed this site from my bookmarks toolbar (in IE the links bar) as it offers to no value. Having to dig for news from each sub-site is not worth the effort. My active bookmark RSS feeds from Anandtech, Inquirer, Register, TechWeb and Secunia, will keep me update with IT news. However, I will miss the NZ angle, but so be it. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
350143 2005-04-28 23:56:00 Not only their web site but their magazine is too.The most interesting thing I could find last month was the "letters to the editor". JJJJJ (528)
350144 2005-04-29 00:12:00 With the instant news and articles now on the web, are magazines loosing their use. Event the CDs are out of date for patches by one month. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
350145 2005-04-29 00:21:00 When I get over the stigma of taking my laptop into the toilet for a bit of browsing while I take care of bizzo, then and only then will magazines have become reduntant.

Muhahahahaha.

350149 2005-04-30 06:05:00 I'd say it's dead in the water... just went there for the first time in a month and I think there's one new article.

My guess is that they are trying to protect the (paper) mag from loss of revenue stream. IE if they put it on the web no-one, or at least a lot less people, will fork out the dosh for the mag at the news stand.

Funny enough back when it was a good mag I used to buy it and would have happily paid a subscription for the 'net' version and saved my aching arms from having to carry the used paper out to the recycle bin.

Aunty Herald seems to have no problem putting most of their content on the net, they must loose money from people not paying, but then they seem to make enough money from advertising to stay afloat.
