652483 2008-03-25 02:32:00 Your son wont be playing games on your laptop if you only pay $1800 for it, unless of course he playing games from the last century!

Gaming is about graphics power\CPU\RAM, with a good graphic card you can get away with lower spec'd cpu and RAM, but it doesnt work the other way unfortunately!.

don't look at the cheap $1,699 one, the $2099 one is much better value

$3000+ for the laptop equivalent

You can't buy a gaming laptop for $1800. Alienware make some, they are

Seriously expensive.

There is also the ASUS C90

if you can find one here.
However its a lot lamer.

You're better off getting him a desktop for gaming.

"Most shops " you went into wouldn't have been toaster shops would they? Like Noel Leemings, Harvey Norman etc.
Because they wouldn't know a gaming PC if they fell over one.

652489 2008-03-25 09:50:00 I'd for a Dell or HP based on your price. But the gaming aspect and your budget will unfortunately not match at all. beeswax34 (63)

652491 2008-03-26 06:04:00 May I ask what is wrong with the Asus A6000?
What about keeping it for the household stuff, perhaps using its restore disk/partition to start afresh, and spending $1800 on a gaming computer, or console?
