Plenty of these rorts here in Australia too: politicians and public servants have all these expenses that are unfanthomable to the common-as-muck taxpayer, and seemingly always get away with it. I have looked and looked, but I cannot get a valid explanation for the NZ Film Commission's "junket" (www.nzherald.co.nz). Just some cockamimmy story about the need for exposure for the NZ film industry. I though you give people money to make movies if you want more exposure for the NZ film industry. Go figure.
Just try explaining to the IRD that you don't want to pay so much taxes because you disagree with public servants spending it on junkets. |
