653073 2008-03-31 19:33:00 That wouldnt make it crash. Dont worry about that

You dont have to look for every X.

If it isnt crashing now, you dont have to look any more

It looks like that {F3A614DC-ABE0-11D2-A441-00C04F795683} entry belongs to MSN Messenger

653074 2008-03-31 21:42:00 Hi Speedy,
Back again- I had left the view page on th escreen wjile away-when I went further down- there was SASKUTIL again
below is the copy
The computer NEVER crashes- it just will not complete the start up first thing every morning-when left recycling and came back 10 minutes later- the start up was complete
From then on it /I can go off line >reboot etc and it goes straight in to the correct sequences and I am away- absolutely no recycling for the rest of the day

653075 2008-03-31 22:06:00 Oh well cant do much about it, if the program / file isnt there.

Just as long as its not crashing the system, dont worry about it

Thats 2 days ago

653076 2008-04-01 11:36:00 Hi effie c,
Just out of interest do you turn the computer off at the wall overnight or just close down the computer?

653077 2008-04-02 05:08:00 Hi Robinz,
I have tried to get a definitive answer from F1 for a long time on this
Now I leave the computer on all day with the router too- -if I turn the pooter off by some chance- I leave the router going - until I go to bed then all get turned off
if nothing else the router is now in my bedroom where it was changed from next to the computer- 18 metres to the nearest phone jackpoint so the ethernet cablenow does what the hardcore phone line was doing--and gained from 1.2 mB/s to about 500 kB/s in the process- a huge jump and it never varies more than 200 kB/s and then only at very busy times- I can even get up to 300 kB/s while downloading files for install

I have just arrived back from the computer repair specialists and they tell me my 40 gb H/d was squeeking as it started - a sure sign it was ready to blow- a new 80 gb Seagate is now doing it's thing
Thanks to one and all after nearly 60 posts- and the biggest to Speedy Gonzales- whose skill is second to none
Thank you again

odd

as a computer tech myself I'd certainly not rely on that - I'd be running seatools diagnostic program......to be CERTAIN. Interesting they didn't state they did that ?

653079 2008-04-02 22:58:00 Hi all ---again,
Found the trouble at last the powersupply had three capacitors "popped"
deliver intermittant power until things finally fluked a completion of the start up.
BUT it was delivering "dirty power" (quote) and had taken the h/d out-or parts of it as well- the tech apparently did the program that tests it- and even when I asked whether I should replace the old H/d he said no "too much damage"
Now am up and running - and much quicker than ever
Thanks one and all - I hope this string can now rest in peace

653080 2008-04-03 12:02:00 Glad you have it all sorted.
As a side note for you my computer would constantly crash at start up with blue screen of death and restart. I couldn't find out why. The codes indicated the power supply or motherboard. I replaced the power box to 450w one and even reloaded windows a couple of times out of frustration. Then one day when it restarted I noticed the clock had reset and that was the clue I needed. What had happened was that I always turned the computer off at the wall after I powered down, and the little bios battery on the motherboard had flattened, so that at start up with the load coming on to the board it was enough for the voltage to dip so the bios programming didn't properly action. I replaced the battery and now leave the wall plug switched on. No more problems.
