653062 2008-03-30 02:57:00 The only SUSKUTIL file found today was using a SUSKUTIL.Sys search in "windows search", logically I got that this morning and deleted it, but as usual will have to wait the overnight start up that causes the trouble

Thats why its not there now then you deleted it, it should be SASKUTIL.sys not SUSKUTIL.sys

653064 2008-03-30 19:28:00 Hi Speedy,
Would you believe it SASKUTIL is the only error in the view process---AND the computer as usual recycled- I left it recycling and came back later to find it had completed start up on it's own
There is definitely NO file named SASKTUL left ( in terms of superantispy )
and when th esite is double clicked it says drivers must be corrupt
Bellow is the copied and pasted ( clever eh ? )plus one taken yesterday,
below it
I am stuck to put it mildly
I can tolerate the recycling as long as it does not pack a complete sad on nevr starts

653067 2008-03-30 20:21:00 Go to control panel / system / hardware/ device manager

Select View / show hidden devices, click on the + besides non plug and plug drivers.

Look for that saskutil or sasukutil.sys here. If its here delete it, then reboot.

653068 2008-03-30 22:02:00 Hi Speedy
Bingo! there it was with an exclamation warning- though not a red X- deleted and rebooted, rechecked, nothing there---thank you from the bottom of my being- - here is hoping for a normal restart to morrow--now I wish I could show appreciation better
The intriguing thing though - when I came to click reply,it would not load- checked and antiphishing was struggling- stopped "auto antiphishing ") that and up the "reply button " came- is SASKUTIL somehow connected with that?

Smithie 38 tells me he too has SASKUTIL and one other with a redX but has no trouble loading-ie should that too be be checked for the need or not of this file?
:clap

653069 2008-03-30 22:18:00 You dont need saskutil, its part of Superantispyware. If you've uninstalled it

I wouldnt install it again.

And thats why it was causing probs, that file must have been corrupted. And it was having probs loading everytime you turned the computer on.

If Avast isnt installed, install this instead, as it now has an anti-rootkit and an anti-spyware built into it.

If youre using IE7 the anti-phishing option is slow. I've turned it off / disabled it here.

Or I just use firefox.

Saskutil has nothing to do with the anti-phishing filter.

Altho, depending on what Superantispyware actually does (I've never used it), it may have slowed things down, since it was corrupted.

If Smithie's is working ok, I wouldnt delete it, it'll probably come back anyway, until Smithie uninstalls it.

Since it uses it. If its installed

653070 2008-03-30 22:52:00 Hi Speedy.

I have been following this thread with great interest as I had both SASKUTIL and also SASDIFSV showing up in event viewer with red crosses. Yes I had superantispy sometime back but deleted it. Even though those two items were showing in event viewer with the red cross, I was apparently lucky as my computer started without any problems.

However, following your latest advice I have now removed both, and I know both effie and I are absolutely delighted to be able to say - Speedy you have done it again. :thanks
