653022 2008-03-27 20:14:00 If you think the on/off button is knackered, get another case.

You'll be lucky to find an off/on button by itself anywhere

Is this system a Dell/HP??

Or did you make the system up yourself??

653023 2008-03-27 20:33:00 Now I am back to square one

I assume the first question I put about a new off/on switch could be relevant after all?

No. That has nothing to do with it, your on/off switch just powers it on, or off.

Untick Automatically Restart. Then tell us exactly what BSOD error you get.

653025 2008-03-27 20:43:00 Just post what the BSOD says, next time you see it.

ie: What it says after STOP: and if there's a name of a driver or file (which may or may not be under it).

653026 2008-03-27 21:12:00 Thank you Speedy,
I will do as you people suggest, and I may just turn off this pooter for 2 hours this time as I restart and go into safemode and this BSOD :badpc:
Bear with me - I do my pooter housekeeping on a friday and this poor machine is getting snarky ;)
I have just done a cclean up and a deep scan using Ad Aware which found double the number of intrusions that it usually finds, none serious- perhaps that might help, but I will struggle as I do/learn how to use such an infernal machine

653027 2008-03-27 22:23:00 We need a :headwall (forum.khurram.ca) emote.

:dogeye:

One of these (www.21softs.com) wouldn't be bad either.

There are some really cool emotes on this (forum.khurram.ca) page actually.

Take no notice of him Effie.

Where are you up to now? If we can have a look at that BSOD error message we might be able to make some sense of it. ;)

Ouch! Guess I deserved that... sorry effie.

Didn't mean it in a rude way at all. I made a very unhelpful post.

/sulks off feeling embarrassed

/comes back

Now, to do some BSOD analyzing! :D

What's the latest one effie? ;) Post it and we'll have a look.

653031 2008-03-28 20:53:00 Hi,
Well I restarted, after overnight switch-off as I have done with this problem and as usual this morning, having unticked the "automatic restart" before switching off,and guess what -the computer restarted six times anyway, tick or no,---no BSOD, and certainly nothing I can send to you people- in fact how on earth can I get the BSOD anyway

Yesterday I restarted many times during the day, not one faulty one.

Yesterday I removed the latest Firefox SERVER ;) -I had re installed two days ago, -no difference there.

I am not sure this FF is any better than Internet Explorer, but as it is still in "downloaded programs" but not installed, it cannot be affecting anything from that position surely.

I am open to constructive comment on FF later as a separate subject- - but as for now I am awaiting more advice from F1 - on this restart error

I am sorry I may seem dense but there you are
