| 652977 | 2008-03-26 19:09:00 | Anyone know of a good/great cooler for cooling a CPU? It is for a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2 . 4G 8Mb FSB1066 CPU and must fit Gigabyte EX38T-DQ6 board . This board has a crazy copper cooler built onto the board which I would prefer to leave on . The holes that I could mount a CoolMaster cooler I have here onto are fine except that there is about 3-4mm of this crazy copper cooler on the back of the board making it impossible to mount my current cooler . |

Good question Bantu, I like the Gigabyte boards too and also have the magic Q6600 on my upgrade list . I was thinking perhaps the Zalman CNPS9500 or the Artic Freezer as neither of these has a plate that clamps underneath the mobo, and I have the TJ06 with the wind tunnel and are hoping to get that in tact to isolate any heat from the cpu and north bridge |

I have always had ASUS in the past but this time I got Gigabyte Board and 8800GT graphics . About $1600 to update board, graphics, 2GB Corsair ram and CPU . Will get a better cpu and ram about 12 months down the track . But so far all is sweet apart from not feeling comfortable with the standard packaged Intel cooling of the CPU . |

Not sure how much the crazy cooling spreads underneath, that was the only reason I'm not going for it even though it does look well funky, so I'm going with the P5KC.. Check out the silent pc review for the zalman, this model only have the 92mm fan instead of 120mm so not as big! www.silentpcreview.com |

| 652982 | 2008-03-26 20:01:00 | www.silentpcreview.com Looking at that site the mounting of it looks as though it still bolts through the board with a backing plate. Looks like the Crazy copper board cooler would prevent that one fitting. |

| 652984 | 2008-03-26 21:24:00 | Yes that looks like it just fits in the same pins as the packaged cooler which should not be a problem. pbtech has those in stock i think. | Bantu (52) | ||
| 652985 | 2008-03-26 22:28:00 | I like the look of the Zalman, however easy works for me, the the Artic install looks like a doodle. Not sure how good they work with Quad cores though?. | SolMiester (139) | ||
| 652986 | 2008-03-26 22:45:00 | Have a look at Scythe Infinity for example, imo a little bit better then the Zalman. But the Zalman is also not bad, but a little bit noisy (cools my E6400). The Arctic Freezer run after some time unplan. |
