353500 2005-05-09 06:34:00 I bought a Dell inspiron 6000 3 weeks ago. Wish I had not! It was promised to be delivered before the 5th of May, and indeed, the Dell tracking site tells me: delivered on the 3rd of may (!!), and signed for!! Well, it was not me or one of my family. Consequence: endless line queue with their call centre in Malaysia and then they tell me I should try to contact their courrier in New Zealand. And they will not phone you back, whatever they promise. Be careful with these guys, once the money is cashed, apparently the deal is not interesting anymore.
Anyone else had this experience??
Cheers

353501 2005-05-09 07:11:00 Yeah we got a mis-directed delivery once too.

I was building a computer for my brother and had ordered parts from various online places around the country, so everything started arriving on one day from various courier companies. Unfortunately I was away at a LAN at the time, but they delivered a Dell computer to our house as well and my brother accepted it thinking it was for him. Then I got home and he had set it up and was playing on it.

Checked the box to see where it came from and the address and name were completely different yet they delivered it to us anyway.

Luckily we're honest people and we rang the true owner up (name, address, phone # on invoice) and got him to come round and pick it up.

In your case it would seem some unscrupulous bastard has taken off with your computer. Good luck tracking him down too, the courier delivered it to the wrong address and I doubt there would be a record of that?

I think the courier that delivered a Dell to us was Poste Haste. Can you not get a contact # for Dell NZ? Only international numbers? Get a refund or replacement sent out with compensation goodies.

AFAIK they only have 1 employee in NZ and he doesn't take calls from Joe Public...

353503 2005-05-09 08:10:00 A work we once had an Apple mac that ended up at a Primary School.
The only way we tracked it down was because

a) The signature on the ticket was actually readable
b) The person who signed for it had a very unusual surname (in fact the only one in the Dunedin phonebook).

Wasn't anything sinister though - they had ordered some macs and our one had slipped in there.

Courier companies are very dodgy at times. I've had "must sign for" parcels just left at the front door (and in full view of the footpath). Also they "forget" to leave their calling cards (i.e. no one was home) don't bother to ring you on the phone number with your address. :groan:

Anyway, I'd moan at any New Zealand based manager you can find. Mention phrases such as "Fair Go". Write to them straight away saying that you will take them to small claims court.

dell contact nz (support.ap.dell.com)

Phone number seems to be 0800 941 123 (hopefully you don't get India)

Now, if I could just convince Dell that a GX280 is actually a GX260 so I can get the right part :@@:

Almost as bad as NZ Post . Today we got our "Firefox" T-shirts . Luckily most people round here are honest . The parcel with the T-shirts was left poking, very conspicuously, out of the top part of the mailbox . Any of the 5%, or whatever it is, of the population, who are dishonest, could have been off with it in seconds .

For many years we have had calendars delivered from Scotland . In the last two years they have been ruined . They fold them over to crunch them in and then leave them to the rain . Most times the weather can be good but the last two years they have been delivered in the rain . Too bad !! Do they give a stuff ? Do they reply to my query - despite promises ? No, no !
More to the point - do they train their staff ? You have got to be joking !!
I rang them and they said we will have to ask Scotland if they are willing to do anything . They stuff it up by folding them and leaving them in the rain then ask the Scottish Post people to fork up and re-imburse . What planet are we living on ????????

353505 2005-05-09 09:24:00 Does it occur to you, Misty, that your post box might be too small for the items you find damaged? Most sold in NZ are tiddly little things that won't hold a long envelope, or newspaper.
Solution. Spend about the same money and buy a standard gavanised rural delivery style mail box, town posties seem to love them. Big, dry and easy to operate. And if you are nice to your postie he/she will even put the flag up so you can see if there is mail (dry) on a wet day from a window.

Rugby fans can get them in the super 12 colour of choice - plastic though.

We now don't get wet or damaged mail!

Many thanks for the suggestion Leonidas - however a couple of months ago we bought a new letterbox to replace the old one but have not got around to erecting it yet - so too late !! You could be right !

By the way are you (a) a Belgian chocolate or (b) a King of Sparta ????

It worked for me when a CD wasn't delivered. I got my money back no problems but you need to write the bank a clear concise letter stating the facts, not just a winge.

353509 2005-05-09 11:40:00 Thanks for the support guys, will keep you posted. Phoned them again tonight. Bad connection, once more with Malaysia (VOIP system??). They had not yet undertaken something....... They will do that tomorrow. I will try tomorrow to reverse that credit card charge of 2800 bucks....
