653741 2008-03-28 23:03:00 When I have my microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse plugged in, my computer doesn't automatically turn off the monitor or show the screen saver.

I read it was due to an incompatibility with power DVD, so I uninstalled it & it hasn't fixed the problem. Any ideas?

653742 2008-03-29 00:43:00 This may or may not work - but wont hurt either---

Assuming you are using XP, right click My Computer/Properties/Hardware Tab/Device manager--- Scroll down to the USB devices, the one you want is the one that the transmitter for the wireless is attached to, right click it/properties/Power Management - either tick or untick ( opposite to whats there now) on the check box that says " Allow the Computer to turn off this device"

IF its Vista - click start/in the search type in Device Manager double click the result and do the same as above.

That didn't help. I'm running XP

653744 2008-03-29 06:23:00 Another MS site says to go to the windowsupdate site and see if Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter appears under Optional Hardware Update

If its there install it.

But it says to plug in a wireless receiver before you go here

Hmm altho I've just seen a site that says this can conflict with ATI drivers, and make u crash (On Vista that is)

653745 2008-03-29 06:43:00 Or try this from another site

Go to Device Manager, select Human Interface devices, and update drivers .

Did so - it promptly downloaded and installed - guess what?

Yup - the HID Non-User Input Filter - even shows it now in Device Manager .
