| 653472 | 2008-03-28 02:20:00 | I am at my wits end and hope someone out there can help me. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 PC with XP Home Edition. At Christmas, my daughter purchased a Samsung YP-T10 MP3 player. This was our family's first venture into MP3 players and it has not been successful. The device will not connect to the PC. Numerous attempts to fix the problem with different software tools have been a waste of time. No matter what I try, when I plug into the USB port, the computer just sits there with the message "Found new hardware--MTP Device", but nothing else happens. The device won't sync with Media Player or any other interface. In Device Manager, all I get is a Code 41 error, but do not understand what I'm supposed to do to fix the problem. One thing a co-worker told me is that the Rhapsody software that came with the device (which I have since uninstalled, since it wouldn't connect anyway) might have caused the problem and that ghost files still on my computer might still be interfering. I have run all the windows system tools to clean disk, defrag, etc. and use RegCure to clean the registry. Still no luck. Every other plug & play device I've ever used has connected fine. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. My daughter is hugely disappointed that this Christmas gift to herself remains mostly useless except as an expensive portable radio. |

| 653476 | 2008-03-28 05:21:00 | Only troubleshooting item that seemed close was "Connection to your PC is disabled", which recommended downloading updates from Windows, which my computer does automatically. I did manual download anyway just now and re-booted. Same old same old. No difference. It's too late at night for any more of this. I'll check in again tomorrow. |

| 653477 | 2008-03-28 06:19:00 | I bought my wife one of these for Xmas as it came with BT.. Haven't had this problem but I found it was better to treat the T10 as a USB drive and manage the files from there.. | paulw (1826) | ||

It plugs into the USB drive, so aren't I managing it that way already? I'm pretty good with using software, but I avoid diving into the functionality of computers, since I don't have the time or patience. I appreciate any advice folks can give, but please use plain language to explain functional things, or I'll be lost!:) |

What you may need to do is to plug in the player as normal and then go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management (Whew!!!) and see if the MP3 player shows up in there and then explore it or assign it a drive letter. OR do this: To start Disk Management: 1. Log on as administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. 2. Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK. 3. In the console tree, click Disk Management. |
