653340 2008-03-27 19:13:00 on startup.I see it's Nod 32 v3 which I've just loaded.CPU usage goes from 50-100% and of course stops anything else run properly.Any clues on how to fix it.Have googled and found it to be a problem but you guys are smarter then google.
3.4GHz P4 XP pro.All patched etc.
Thanks.

653343 2008-03-27 23:49:00 You haven't set it to scan every time the PC starts have you ?

While you need to set it to do a scheduled scan at the time and day you want, you can also tell it to scan every time the PC starts - this will cause it to take longer than normal to fully start.

Thanks wt.I installed it as default, so not sure if it was set for scan at start.I don't set any program up to do scheduled scans as prefer to do it myself!
Noticed with a program I have to save notes/info (AZZ Cardfile) that it takes longer to load than before v3.Checked on Task Manager and it showed ekrn kicking in at 100% when opening AZZ.And when it saved.
V2 does as well but not as much as 3.
Have gone back to the last v2 and things open quicker.
Found a few remarks on line about the same thing happening with others.

653345 2008-03-28 07:32:00 Does AZZ Cardfile run / load on startup - never used it so I have to ask ?

If it does then Nod32 could be scanning it when it opens / loads, as the AV does do a quick background scan when opening for suspicious activity.

Is This here (www.azzcardfile.com) the program you are referring to ???

If it is I can see if I can duplicate the problem

653346 2008-03-28 09:41:00 Yes, that's the program, and no it doesn't load at startup.I think you'll have to load an awful lot of files into it to catch up to me. A lot of info in it !!
This problem with v3 hogging the cpu only started today after booting.Lasted for about 5 mins.Mind you I've only had v3 on this pc for a few days.Wondered why nothing else would load, like mailwasher and firefox and found the cpu way up.
I see that v2 also scans AZZ,well I said all that!
Thanks.

653347 2008-03-28 20:50:00 Interesting link, thanks Neil.

If you read post 9 in the link someone else also said that when Java was loading it caused problems.

Try this - click start/run type in msconfig on the startup tab, scroll through and look for sunjava, ( or any thing else saying java)then untick it (there may or may not be more than 1) Also lets have a look at what ever else may be starting thats causing a problem - download HijackThis (www.trendsecure.com)run it and save a log, copy and paste the whole log file back here, someone will advice as what else to stop on startup, or any other problems.

Many people have loads of apps running on start up that simply theres no need for them to do so.
