354843 2005-05-14 00:40:00 When they can make a phone that can make and recieve phonecalls I'll be happy.

Oh wait, we can do that already, Guess they need to load on gimmicks, games, and trinkets to sell to the fashion victims of this world.

My very own father last night was disgusted that instead of making a phone that works from his house they spend their time building in crappy cameras, lame games, and 468 thousand ring tones anyone who wasn't tone deaf would never want to hear.

Phones pretty much suck,as do posters who have an account for no other reason then to try and attract visitors to their sites.

But you won't read about that on the 6 o'clock news.....

354845 2005-05-15 06:21:00 Phones don't even sound like phones anymore. When mine rings I don't usually associate the noise with it, thats why the best thing about it is the vibrator feature, if I can't feel it it doesn't get answered. Mine's got a zillion noises that are next to useless. Phil B (648)
354846 2005-05-15 11:33:00 Well, you didnt get this from me, but probably more relevant than spooftel (does anyone else think that name sounds like a gay sexchat line?)

no offence intended of course ;)

You could be one of the first to test a range of innovative Telecom voice services, for example:

* > Integrate call management between Telecom home and mobile numbers (for example you choose which phone will ring first when either number is called); and
* > Access your call manager through your Telecom mobile as well as your computer .

And you’ll be rewarded for taking part . That’s right; if you’re chosen to participate, they’ll set up a second line for you then you’ll get free national, international and home to mobile calls on that line (within reasonable usage limits of course) for the duration of the trial . By completing the trial requirements you will also be rewarded for your efforts with monthly prizes .

Scheduled to start in July, and run for up to three months, this exciting trial is the first of three next generation network services trials that are planned for this year . The other trials are expected to test advanced entertainment services, very high speed Internet and more handy voice services .

LIKE TO BE A TEST PILOT & HELP SHAPE OUR FUTURE?

Everyone’s welcome to apply, but only a special few will be chosen . We are looking for a range of trialists – both household and business, from technology novices to gurus – right across the nation . We are also keen to get some non-staff test pilots, so if you know of any family or friends that you think might be interested then you are encouraged to forward the application URL to them .

Click here to register your household’s interest in being trialists

If you know a small business that might like to participate in the trial, forward this URL to the business owner to register their interest

Registrations close on Friday 20th May, 2005 . Only Residential or Small Business customers with Xtra broadband and all their line rental and direct dial calling with Telecom should apply .

354847 2005-05-15 22:31:00 Bring back the single line, 8 character motorolas . And the radiation .

Don't need to bring them back Growly, I still use an old Motorola analogue . As for the radiation, I wouldn't touch a digital phone with a 40 foot pole . Radiation levels at full power are twice those of the old analogue phones, and under normal use conditions brain tissue heating starts after about 8-10 minutes .

I have spent much of my working life working on, with and around radio frequency transmitters and other electromagnetic radiation sources, but I draw the line at having a digital cellphone stuck to the side of my head .

My kids don't have them either, which is a bit of a blessing in other ways because that means no abusive texting, inappropriate images or any of the other rubbish that goes on . This makes me the meanest parent on the planet of course . :D

Texting with the phone down in their lap may not be doing their gonads any good either .

Cheers

I think that most of the radiation problems are from GSM phones and the way they send out data. You know the clicky, click sound you get when ever you have one in a car or near your PC. From what I have read the CDMA phones don't generate the same amount of radiation.. However for speach quality it's still hard to be beat a good analog signal.

If I get your drift, you may well be right .

Mrs T reckons that some critical links have been fried, especially those to do with house renovations and wallet opening exercises .
