Haven't read through all the post on this subject......But on other forums
that I use they allow avatars But they must be approved first. So maybe this could be done here as well.

If we open it up, we open it up, but this little school kid Harvestofstupidity/Infernalmoron is a prime example of why we haven't. Get over it people, it just an avatar, it's not like your quality of life is being compromised.

2] If you see posts/threads by said moron (ie new identities) do not reply to them, simply report the post to us.

354666 2005-07-19 00:40:00 OK . . I like the mods having their own avatars . It makes the site look well-kept and safe from abuse .

I have on my Firefox toolbar folder a few other sites that I used to go to sometimes, and they allow avatars by anyone . There is a jumble of Darwinian (pro and con) attempts to be cute and demonic and mother-rapers and child abusers and anti's this and that's who cause general commotion with just their avatars alone . On one site, I even have a . gif file that I uploaded that is animated and I am sure takes a lot of ether to support .

Here on this site, we have two sides for "tech" and "not so tech" postings . With few exceptions (Mr Metla's central digit, so noted) we have few abuses of decorum to shock us . . . we are here for the tech stuff, not viewing a XXX video or being a test audience for a new gansta rap song .

We get to have our way with some ^%$('s and such in place of foul language . . and that is all well and good .

I don't come here to insult or be insulted, mentally or socially, although I am sure I have stepped (or stomped) on some toes . I have a very arcane sense of humor and I suppose it loses some in the translation . . . NZ is NOT Socal! (well, it makes sense in the US anyway!)

354667 2005-07-19 00:43:00 While I think some users have a point with whats been said (vapo & wmoore) I can also agree that I personally have better things to do than to sit down and approve 5,000 odd Avatars.

Realistically i would rather not have "moderator" under my name, nor the little blue man. Vapo has struck a very good point here.

I'd be more keen to see everybody treated with respect around here, and harsher bans on 'tards that decide they have nothing better to do in their school holidays. Its not hard to find where people have come from in the real world. In fact, using things like FindNot, sometimes its possible to pinpoint a persons location to within 20meters.

On a side note, the best way to tell who is a Mod is by the fact they can ban people, the way they lead by example with respect for other forum members/n00bs, and also by the fact its our names down the bottom of the forum under "Moderators".

Personally I have no problem with impersonation, it'd be hard to try and be as perfect as I am ;) 		Chilling_Silence (9)
