Location 3. Membership status, which by default says junior member. 4. If you have dialup/don't like them, you haven't poked around in the user panel Visible Post Elements You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts. Show Signatures Show Avatars Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code) As for taking up too much bandwidth, most forum software has limitations on what size and dimensions people can have. The only reason why Mods got avatars was because a select group of PF1 members decided to abuse the custom title function and call themselves Moderators (and by-passed the filters by using international characters). This was not only misleading but also possibly damaging to PF1 if they made inappropriate comments/slanging fests while masquerading as a "Moderator". Having the avatar for genuine Mods/Admin prevents this as it cannot be faked. It also opens up a whole new ball park for the Mods/Admin with having to then also moderate inappropriate images being used as Avatars. Pretty boring reasons, but quite reasonable I think. :)	Jen (38)

The same few people who would do that sort of carry on would just leave an offensive message instead,and how often does that happen? Your word filter is simple to get around and anyone so inclined could leave a torrent of abuse and descriptoins that would turn your blood cold . It either never happens,or is taken care of so quickly that no harm is done, images fall into the same basket . Your ban on images has no effect on people who want to upset,and they don't frequent the place anyway . If there is a real reson for no Avatars I would love to hear it,though I imagine its all about getting a balance for all the users,after all the "whinge untill I'm noticed" complained about text sigs,even though they can be turned iff, And no doubt as demonstrated above they would trow a tanty if avatars were available,even though they can be turned off at will . offensive images, pfffttt . Having said that, its no skin off my nose, i can live quite easily with or without avatars .	Metla (12)

I can just imagine the avatars that the naughty multipersonality child who popped up today might use. So his best girlfriends a goat and he wants us to know how close they get. Sure that image would get removed pretty fast but not before a whole shipload of people have been offended by something displayed on the PF1 interweb site and therefore seen as part of PF1. I expect there could be embarressing legal consequences as well. We don't need them, the only way they could be effectivly controlled is by approval, and i think the mods are busy enough as is. Having said that avatars for those who have ben around a bit might be a safer option, but then again, that too might be a can of worms just waiting for the opening! :D	personthingy (1670)
